Female Glandular Support

Excerpted from the “Vitamost® Encyclopedia of Food-Based Medicines. The prostate is a walnut-sized, doughnut shaped gland that lies below the bladder and surrounds the male urethra. It secretes a milky, alkaline fluid that increases sperm motility and lubricates the urethra to prevent infection. Enlargement of the prostate is common, especially after middle age. This condition is known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It results in urethral obstruction that impedes urination. Symptoms of BPH include: frequent need to urinate, reduced force and speed of urination, difficulty urinating (starting, burning), urinate more than twice during the night, unable to empty bladder completely, back pains associated with urinary difficulties, lost or diminished sex drive, and/or discomfort or dull aching in the perineal area (between scrotum and anus). Warning: If you have any of the above symptoms, get a medical diagnosis. Prostate cancer, the second leading cause of death in men, has similar symptoms. BPH affects over 50% of men during their lifetime. Its frequency increases with age, from under 10% at age 30 to over 90% in men over 85 years of age. If left untreated,  BPH will eventually result in complete retention of urine and kidney damage.
